The past of online education in India is not very old as online education requires expensive computers, smartphones and internet.  Due to the poverty prevailing in India, online education was also not very much in vogue due to not having all these basic facilities with more people.

Due to the Modi government's Digital India program in 2014 and the cheap internet brought by Jio in 2016, gradually the internet and mobile phones started reaching the pockets of the common man of India.  The infrastructure was starting to be ready and it seemed that by 2022, digitization of education would also be done.  But, the coronavirus spread in December 2019 caused a worldwide lockdown in 2020.  Because of which school children interviewed online education in India earlier than expected.

There is a proverb in English that OPPORTUNITY COMES IN DISGUISE means, opportunity comes in disguise.  By March-April 2020, all private and some government schools in India started online education.

What a pleasant experience it was to sit at home and write poetry and essay with the school teacher and my classmates.  The hassle of getting ready after taking a shower or catching the school bus was over, it seemed as if the school had come home.  The first 15-20 days were very fun.  But, within a month, it was discovered that distant drums sound pleasant.  In reality, there are many drawbacks in online education due to which it cannot be considered 100% successful in India.

Let us know my thoughts on online education –

First and foremost, this method of education further widens the gap between the poor and the rich because people living below the poverty line or those who can hardly afford a day's bread have no access to fast walkers.  If there is no WiFi or internet facility, then such children lag behind other children.

Apart from this, a poor family can hardly afford a smart phone.  In such a situation, if there are 2 children studying in a family, then a big problem arises because both the children need separate phones.

Non-availability of internet in remote villages and inaccessible places is also a serious problem.

Those who have all the facilities available also have to face the following problems to successfully participate in the online class-

The problem of breaking the class in the middle due to electricity coming and going, the problem of creating an atmosphere of peace in the house;  Somewhere in the kitchen the noise of the whistle of the pressure cooker while the food is being cooked and somewhere in the joint family the sounds of the children crying.

Apart from this, there is also a problem on the part of teachers.  Teachers have the basic plan of video conferencing app, in which only 40 minutes of meeting time is available.  The meeting automatically ends as soon as the 40 minutes are over and the teacher has to re-login the children by creating a new meeting ID and password again.

In the free plan, teachers can see only the first 18-20 children, that means only the first 20 children who have joined will appear on the screen so that the rest of the children do not pay attention to studies.  Due to which the teacher is also able to concentrate her attention only on the first twenty.  In this way, children after 20 are saved from being noticed by the teacher and do not study diligently and are engaged in talking here and there or listening to songs or playing online games.
