Emotions can also be contagious ... Emotions generated through the neural network of the brain are having side effects on the child's mind!

We are all going through a dark time.  A small, unseen but highly contagious virus has wreaked havoc on mankind.  There is a feeling of pain, despair, anxiety and fear everywhere.  All these emotions are creating a kind of negativity, which is having a side effect not only on us but also on the minds of our children.

Emotions are just as contagious as infectious diseases.  According to research, emotions have an energy, which is captured by humans.  Remember ... when you are with friends they laugh and you laugh too.  When someone in your family is upset or angry, you immediately feel the tension and you start feeling angry and upset yourself.  Have you ever been to a music concert?  When the audience applauds, there comes a time when all the applause is heard in a beautiful harmony and it feels as if everyone is tied with a string.

In the same way, the meditation and chanting of a group of people sitting in a satsang will create a field of energy ... the way dance produces a kind of energy.  Researchers believe that we do not act like all independent humans, but experience emotions through the neural networks of our brains.  Then unknowingly we start synchronizing verbal and non-verbal signals - this is what is called scientific 'resonance'.

Children are very sensitive and quickly catch and absorb such emotions.  Adult individuals like us are deeply affected by the overwhelming emotions of the afflicted population, but children of different ages react differently to this affliction.  According to the reported cases, young children are so scared that they are afraid to set foot outside the house and moreover, many children are so skeptical that they hesitate to eat because they think that the food may be contaminated.  Many teenagers are moving in a shell and spending all their time looking at new websites on the Internet.  Many children have become less talkative and have also become moody, irritable and violent.  Unfortunately many children have lost their loved ones and are learning to handle this pain and grief on their own.  Parents should make sure that their children are in constant contact with their counselors, support groups or adults who can guide them through these difficult times.

The good news is that we can spread positive emotions faster than negative emotions and have a ripple effect of happiness.  According to research, if a person is happy, the chances of his neighbor, spouse, sibling or friend being happy increase by 34%.  It is important to know that this wave of positive emotions not only affects you directly but also indirectly.  To be honest the percentage of this ripple effect is much higher for positive emotions than negative emotions!

Emotions are not only contagious at the family level they can also affect a large group.  In an experiment conducted with 6 lakh users of Facebook in 2014, the scientists found that by publishing less positive posts of this group, this group started posting more and more negative posts.  So the experimenters concluded that, through social networks, massive emotions can be transmitted;  In other words, emotions can be transmitted even without interaction and verbal cues!  Similarly, a photo posted on Instagram can also have an effect on the viewer's emotions.  We know that depressed people use excessive dark colors and happy people use light and bright colors.

What does all this mean for us?  How can we talk about happiness when we are surrounded by grief, trauma, anger, frustration, anxiety, and so on?  Maybe we can talk about positive emotions like peace, serenity and meditation.  We can talk about hope and thus focus on our own health and well-being.  There is no single formula for this ... different things can apply to different people.  So start with yourself first.

Sit quietly and try to identify the different emotions you are experiencing.  Make a note of how you feel in a diary ... Note or draw your feelings.  As you realize this you try to understand what your body is like by connecting with your body?  Is it tense?  Do you feel a tingling sensation around your chest;  Or does it feel like any kind of heat or tingling in the body?  So take note of that.

Now take a comfortable position while sitting or sleeping.  Be aware of your breathing.  How do you feel  Take a deep breath and imagine that a white healing flame is coming inside you from some divine or cosmic source and healing all your cells and organs.  Imagine, this white light connects your body to a pillar of healing light contained in the earth.  Stay in this position for a few minutes.  You can play music.  So, you can relax and enjoy this contemplative experience.  Then slowly get out of this by rubbing your hands and keeping your palms above your eyes.

Once you are set in this meditation activity, imagine that white healing flame extends from you to your family, society and the whole house.

You will find a lot of guidance on YouTube about such meditation.  In addition, do activities that you enjoy, such as listening to music, dancing, drawing, etc.  It is also important that you share your feelings with someone close to you.  Only if you are calm and focused as a parent will you be able to help the children around you increase their vibrations by giving them healing energy, prayer and positive emotions.

So, from today onwards, let us infect positive emotions and help our children to come out of this epidemic mentally.
